Happy Holidays

I hope that you are well and enjoying some much deserved face-to-face time with your loved ones.

2020 has been a challenging year from most perspectives, starting with bushfires over the summer, followed by COVID-19 and lockdown. We’ve all had our own individual challenges this year and no doubt we all look forward to a much happier 2021. Despite the year's challenges, we still have much to be proud of this year.

In March we successfully produced one play, They Came From Mars & Landed Outside the Farndale Ave Church, which played to very good houses - it looked like it was going to be a successful year for Beaumaris Theatre. Unfortunately, our 2020 Season was cut short due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Back in March upon suspending our 2020 Season, we decided it was important to keep the Beaumaris Theatre community active through social media and the Talbot Tattler. Our online 'Theatre at Home With...' series, produced by Committee Member Kristina Doucouliagos, kicked off with Monologue May and expanded to include weekly performances of monologues, songs and so much more.

We thank Kristina most sincerely for the outstanding job she has done so far to provide online entertainment via social media with the 'Theatre at Home With...' series. There is a huge amount of work and time that goes on behind the scenes including communication with all the performers, reminders, collecting and uploading the videos, and presenting them in a very professional manner. The performances are revered by other companies and individuals and thoroughly enjoyed by our followers.

In the midst of lockdown, Duncan Thompson Extension spent time in the theatre upgrading and improving our ‘bio box’ which now provides easier access and provides space for sound engineers and follow-spot operators. We thank Duncan Thompson Extensions for their hard work to improve our theatre and their donation of time and energy from the planning to the final outcome.

The Beaumaris Theatre Committee and community would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to our firefighters, nurses, doctors, and hospital administrative staff, emergency responders, essential workers, and all the other Victorians involved in crisis response for getting us through this challenging year.

We all look forward to 2021 with much anticipation and will hopefully finalise our 2021 Season in January.
Thank you for your continued support this year. We hope your holiday season is happy and joyous and everything you need it to be.

Best wishes,
Trevor Osburn
President, Beaumaris Theatre Inc.
