I first saw the movie Steel Magnolias in 1989 and I was uplifted and torn apart by the beautiful, heartwarming story, witty and moving script and the special relationships of the friends played exceptionally by Hollywood’s powerhouse of female stars. There was no doubt their friendships transcended off-screen to real life.
It is hard to find the words to fully describe the impact Robyn, Steve and Trevor have had on Beaumaris Theatre and our community. We are so grateful for the passion, leadership, compassion and creativity they have brought to the Committee, expertly guiding the Theatre through challenging times and establishing a strong foundation for the future.
A Year with Frog and Toad has been described as part vaudeville, part make-believe and all charm. While the cast is five adults, this production is a perfect way for the whole family to come on an adventure across the four seasons with Frog, Toad and all their friends.

Camilla has been involved with Beaumaris for the past twenty years. During this time she has choreographed seventeen of our productions. She has given her time generously, both whilst serving on the Committee and when we required her support after she stepped down from Committee duties.
Steve is a man of action and many talents. He can often be found riding his bike, participating in Parkrun, helping behind the scenes at the Theatre with maintenance, set building, working backstage as a crew member or stage manager or appearing on stage. Every December, Steve can be found in a red suit and white beard spreading Christmas joy!
Since his first role with ACE Theatre in 1995, Stephen has been involved in over 55 productions. Beaumaris Theatre is very grateful for all the contributions Stephen makes and has made over more than 20 years.

We met with Robyn to discuss her 20-year journey in community theatre and her contribution to Beaumaris Theatre as a member, an actor, a director, and a Committee Member. We asked Robyn to reflect on her experiences and to give us some insight into how she came to be involved, the changes she has seen over the years, and her personal feelings about the benefits of belonging to a community organisation.
My personal involvement with Beauy extends back almost 20 years. I’m pleased and proud that, apart from BUGSY MALONE and RETURN TO THE FORBIDDEN PLANET (both before my time), I have either been part of the production team or seen every show represented in this production.

Beaumaris Theatre regulars will remember Lucas from his brilliant performances in Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story and Anne & Gilbert the Musical, both of which required him to learn to play a new musical instrument! This year, Lucas plays Wayne in Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic. We asked Lucas to step into the spotlight so we can get to know him better.
I think it's fair to say, we all knew – committee, cast, me – that it was going to be a popular choice of material for an end-of-year show. I would have had to have done something pretty drastic to have messed it up. But during the later rehearsals, a cast member commented that “die-hard fans” might not approve of what I had done, and it got me thinking:
Would I alienate fans, with my Choristers?
Would integrating two episodes feel like – excuse the pun – some kind of sacrilege?
Would it bewilder audiences and confuse them, by shifting from present to past?
Damien, thank you for your many contributions to Beaumaris Theatre - we are very lucky to have you as part of our theatre community!
I am absolutely thrilled with the opportunity to play Gerry again, she has been with me all this time, ready and waiting for another round of Dibley shenanigans.
Being able to work on a character like Roy as an actor has been truly exciting. And honestly, the role of Roy has reinvigorated the essence of what I love about character work, portraying characters, and theatre - all of it really. I guess that is what happens anytime you are offered a truly great, well-written script – which in fact is what Cosi by Louis Nowra is.
It was a little over 3 months ago that I was given the opportunity to pitch a production to the Beaumaris Theatre Committee. A slot had opened up in the season, and I figured that I had just the production that could not only fill that spot but prove to be a wonderful addition to the 2022 Beaumaris season in its own right.
Dan Bellis has been delighting Beaumaris Theatre audiences since 2016 and is a very valued member of the Beaumaris Theatre Committee. This year he takes on a new role, directing our September production of Cosi. We asked Dan to step into the spotlight so we can get to know him better.
